Individual Therapy is an opportunity to meet with a therapist one-on-one within a safe and confidential environment. Individual counseling provides “therapeutic intimacy” to discuss relationship struggles, childhood challenges, or problems surfacing due to employment, career or personal life changes.
It is available for adults, adolescents, and children.
Individual therapy offers the opportunity to discuss identity issues or feelings of depression or anxiety. During times of stress, we sometimes misuse or abuse alcohol or other substances, or find ourselves overeating and engaging in other destructive behaviors. Learning healthier coping strategies and facing confusing and often conflicting feelings can be positive steps towards living a healthier and happier life.
It also provides a way to deal with painful issues that we sometimes try to avoid — involving sexual, emotional or physical abuse in childhood or adulthood, dysfunctional family struggles, or deep depressions and suicidal feelings. Finding a safe space to address these concerns can break the isolation and begin a process of healing.
When problems are directly related to relationships — i.e., intimate partners, parents, and children, or friends — individual sessions with a therapist can serve as a “safe space” to examine and contemplate feelings and challenges.
If you are struggling with any of the above mentioned, call TODAY to schedule your first-time appointment. Individual sessions are the standard “50-minute therapy hour,” with 10 minutes at the end to set up the next appointment.
